What's New for the 2021 Ford Explorer?
The Ford Explorer has maintained its popularity among SUV drivers for approximately 30 years, thanks to its stunning evolution across six generations. The current generation was unveiled during the 2020 model year, so the 2021 Explorer is a modern automotive engineering vision. Despite a significant refresh only a year ago, the Explorer benefits from a few improvements in the current model year. Specifically, the 2021 Explorer XLT is available now with a Sport Appearance package. Also, there are a few minor changes to the range of optional and standard features available at different trim levels. This three-row crossover also now has a unibody construction with a rear-wheel drive design.
Under the hood, the 2021 Ford Explorer carries the same two possibilities. These are a turbo four-cylinder engine that delivers 300 horsepower and a turbo V6 that produces 400 horsepower. Both are paired with an automatic 10-speed transmission. Standard equipment found in the base trim level for 2021 includes a wireless hotspot, a power liftgate, remote monitoring via an app, a touch display screen with smartphone app integration, and a tri-zone climate management system. Stepping up to higher trim levels may give you additional standard features like heated front seats, an exterior keypad, a keyless ignition, leather seats, a navigation system, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, power-folding and heated seats in the second row, a wireless charging pad and more. The 2021 Explorer is also well-equipped from a safety perspective. Some of its features at all current trim levels include trailer sway control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, front collision mitigation, and others.
