Thanks to the tremendous trailblazing of Henry Ford, Ford will forever be known as the world’s first most popular car brand. The brand has long evolved since the days of the Model T and now includes many types of SUV’s in its lineup (6 to be exact)! With so many choices to choose from in the Ford lineup now, it’s essential to understand the differences between two trendy Ford SUV brands: The Escape and the EcoSport. Without further delay, let’s dive into the differences between the EcoSport and the Escape.

Performance

The 2019 is a more capable SUV in terms of horsepower. It gets 168 horses on a 2.5L engine compared to the EcoSport’s 123 horses on a 1.0L engine. Its torque is also higher at 170 pound-feet compared to the EcoSport’s 125. The 2019 Escape has a larger fuel tank at 15.7 gallons compared to EcoSport’s 13.6. Yet the 2019 Escape weighs more than the EcoSport, coming in at 3,522 compared to EcoSport’s 3,020. The Escape can hold 99 cubic feet of storage compared to the EcoSport’s impressive 91, and the Escape has just 100 pounds of towing capacity over the EcoSport with a total of 1,500 pounds of towing capacity.

Appearance

As far as appearance goes, there is a significant difference between the Escape and the EcoSport. The EcoSport is much more compact in length than the Escape and sits lower to the ground as well. EcoSport has a less elongated stance than the Escape, the Escape comes in a Hybrid version, and the Escape has a sliding second-row seating for improved cargo storage, as well. Overall, the exterior is much different compared to the interior, which is more similar.

Features

Front legroom is surprisingly similar in both vehicles, with just a quarter of an inch of difference between the two. The Escape features carpeted flooring in both the front and rear of the car while the EcoSport has floor mats in the front only. The EcoSport features two 12V DC outlets while the Escape features three of them. The EcoSport gets 27 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. Both Ford vehicles feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for easy audio integration. For safety, the Escape features a forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking and automatic high beams which aren’t available in the EcoSport. The most prominent feature that the EcoSport has going for is a pricetag.
