2020 Ford Explorer vs 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Serving Wellington, OH

The Ford Explorer and the Jeep Grand Cherokee are midsize crossovers that have excellent reputations among drivers in the local area, but you can only buy one of these models. Despite their modest similarities, their many differences will reveal the crossover you want to call your own. Are you ready to compare the Explorer and the Grand Cherokee in detail?

Exterior

A review of these two models starts with a comparison of their exteriors. The 2020 Explorer has distinctive styling with a rounded nose capped by a hexagonal grille and LED headlights that stretch outward dramatically. The hood and roof are both flat and angled to give the Explorer a unique personality. Its many exterior features include rectangular fog lamps, raised roof rails, a skid plate, body molding, and a power liftgate. The 2020 Grand Cherokee’s style is defined by horizontal bars across the grille, a defined front bumper, angled wheel wells, and modest definition through the sides.

Interior

A deeper review inside the cabins reveals that the Ford Explorer accommodates more passengers with a third row of seats. It also has an innovative look with a ledge-like dashboard that holds the floating display screen and an ignition button. The Grand Cherokee’s interior has two rows of seating, a flush display screen in the center stack, and a traditional dashboard. Both models are available with a sunroof, smart device apps, powered seats with heating, a sound system, a navigation system, and a few other items.

Safety

You will continue to be impressed by the Ford Explorer when you review its safety technologies. The popular Ford Co-Pilot 360 suite is loaded with assistive safety features, and these are standard across all trim levels. The equipment includes automatic high beams, a rear camera, adaptive cruise control, reverse brake assist, auto emergency braking, blind-spot detection, and other equipment. In comparison, the Grand Cherokee is offered with three distinctive suites of assistive safety features. The entry-level ProTech I equipment includes a rear camera, a blind-spot monitor, and other features. These features are standard in all 2020 Grand Cherokee trims. The more advanced ProTech II and ProTech III suites are included in the top trim levels.
