2020 Ford F-150 vs 2020 RAM 1500

Serving Wellington, OH

For years, the Ford F-150 has made a name for itself as one of the most robust and capable large trucks on the market. With several trim levels and multiple cab body styles, it's easy to see why the Ford F-150 is a popular pick. Furthermore, the Ford F-150 has a variety of engines available to meet your work and recreational needs. In 2020, the Ford F-150 carries over the same exceptional power and handling credentials that have made it a top choice in the past. This year, it gets additional creature comforts and styling features to make it more comfortable and aesthetically appealing. The Ford F-150 competes with several trucks in its class, including the 2020 RAM 1500. However, the F-150 offers a unique combination of a truck's power with an SUV's conveniences that are lacking in its competitors, including the RAM 1500. Overall, the F-150 is a top choice for both a family vehicle and a work truck.

Performance

Performance is one area where the 2020 Ford F-150 stands out. This capable truck offers a wide selection of engines to meet your needs for performance, speed, and off-road handling. The base-level engine for the Ford F-150 is a gasoline engine with six cylinders and a 3.3L capacity. This engine is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission. It creates 290 HP and reaches 265 LB-FT of torque, which is plenty of power for regular driving and towing lighter-weight objects. There are several other engines available, too. Next up is a 2.7L turbocharged gasoline engine with six cylinders. This engine's power output reaches 325 HP, and it creates 400 LB-FT of torque. You can also opt for a 5.0L V8 that produces 400 LB-FT of torque and nearly 400 HP. You can upgrade to a 3.5L turbocharged V6 for higher power output at 375 HP on all trims, while a variant that produces 450 HP is reserved for the top trims. The RAM 1500, in comparison, has a more limited selection of engines. At most, you won't get an engine that tops 400 HP with the RAM 1500.

Interior Amenities

Unlike the RAM 1500, which is designed to be a functional work truck, the 2020 Ford F-150 is designed with the safety and comfort of driver and passengers in mind. The base trim gets a user-friendly infotainment display screen, a four-speaker sound system, and vinyl flooring. Bluetooth is available through a package. The XLT trim and up add leather seats and an eight-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A bundle of driver-assist safety features is included across the board. The RAM 1500 lacks Ford's safety technology, has fewer creature comforts, and doesn't have the same trailer safety technologies.

Exterior Design

All trims of the Ford F-150 have a sharp-looking design with chrome accents and large wheels. There are additional appearance packages for the XL, XLT, and Lariat trim levels that give them an even more unique and customized look. Skid plates, flared fenders, and all-terrain tires are standard on the top trim. The RAM 1500 doesn't have the same trim-specific customization options, and it has fewer exterior packages.
