Serving Wellington, OH

The full-size Ford F-150 has been a leading option for many truck buyers for the last few decades, and it will grow even more appealing in 2022 with the debut of the F-150 Lightning. The F-150 Lightning is a stand-alone model that carries all of the appeal of the traditional F-150, and it introduces all-electric capabilities to the mix. What should you know about the 2022 Ford F-150 and the F-150 Lightning before you make your final buying decision?

Performance

The most significant differences between these full-size Ford truck models are found under the hood. The F-150 is offered with five gas engines and a hybrid engine. The most powerful engine is loaded in the F-150’s Raptor trim level, and it is a 450-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine. The hybrid system is a variation of this same engine, and it gives you 430 total horsepower. The F-150 Lightning is offered with two battery pack options. The standard option produces 426 horsepower, and it ranges 230 miles. The upgraded option has an output of 563 horsepower, and its range is 300 horsepower. Both of these engines have exceptional rates of acceleration. For example, the upgraded battery takes you up to 60 miles per hour in under five seconds.

Appearance

There are exterior differences between the F-150 and the F-150 Lightning as well. The F-150 has molded sides and a flat hood. The lower perimeter of the sides, including curvature over the wheel fenders, is rigorously defined. The large grille has rounded corners, and it links with tall LED headlights. These are partially outlined by an LED light bar. The F-150 Lightning, on the other hand, introduces slightly different side styling. However, the sides continue to be heavily accentuated on the lower portion of the panels. The grille is rectangular, and it extends across most of the nose. The side flanks feature tall, slender headlights. Surrounding the sides and top of the entire grille unit is an LED bar.

Features

There are a few design differences inside the cabin, but these models have many of the same features. These include leather upholstery, heated seats, remote engine start, smart device integration, a navigation system, assistive safety tech, and more. However, the F-150 Lightning introduces a large, vertically mounted display screen and a hands-free BlueCruise driving system.
