Looking to upgrade your compact crossover game? The Ford Escape has been a popular choice among local drivers for four generations. With exciting improvements between the 2022 and 2023 model years, the Escape is looking better than ever. Let's take a closer look at what's changed.

Performance

Performance-wise, the 2023 Escape now offers a modified trim lineup with seven options: base, Active, PHEV, ST-Line, ST-Line Selection, ST-Line Elite, and Platinum. While the trim options have been updated, the four powertrain options from the 2022 model year remain available. The base engine is a 180-horsepower, turbo 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine with optional all-wheel drive. The higher trims come with a turbo 2.0-liter, 250-horsepower engine with standard all-wheel drive. The 2023 model year also offers two hybrid powertrain options, a 2.5-liter hybrid with a 192-horsepower system and a PHEV that generates 210 total horsepower.

Appearance

In terms of appearance, the 2023 Escape features a redesigned front end with a larger, metallic-accented grille, a restyled bumper with a metallic strip, and revamped air vents. The headlights have a new U-shaped LED ribbon design, and the rear boasts a liftgate spoiler, molded bumper, and edgy double-element headlights.

Features

Inside, the biggest update for the 2023 model year is the new Sync 4 system, which comes with a redesigned central display screen. While some features have been moved to different trim levels, carryover features include a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, an automated parking system, a panoramic sunroof, a tow package, a wireless charging pad, adaptive cruise control, a navigation system, a surround-view camera, and memory settings for the driver's seat.
