Ford Splits Into Electric and Gas Divisions

Ford Splits into Electric and Gas Divisions

Ford’s passion for electrifying its lineup is well-known, and it has been emphasized with the release of the Mustang Mach-E and other options. Ford has recently taken its efforts a step further by announcing two distinct divisions. These are the Ford Model e division and the Ford Blue division.

The Ford Model e Division

Model e is a Ford division that will focus exclusively on the innovation and development of electrified vehicles. This division will be tasked with meeting Ford’s stated goal of producing two million electric vehicles by 2026. This is an extension of its previous pledge to make 600,000 EVs by 2023. Ford also hopes for half of its total sales volume to come from EVs by 2030. Notably, the Model e division will benefit from Ford’s investment of $5 billion into new EV innovation and development in 2022.

The Ford Blue Division

Blue is the Ford division that will continue the work that the automaker has been doing for centuries. Specifically, it will focus on designing and producing gas-powered models. These include the gas-powered F-150 and the Bronco, and other popular models. Reasons for the company's division include the ability for engineers and designers to focus on these two unique types of vehicles and the ability to boost profits going forward.
